Joshua law is a rule that was voted for in 2005 to aid in reducing the increasing teenage driving statistics. Before the Joshua Law, countless teenagers were able to get on the road with very little driver’s schooling. This recent law has provided some imperative regulations to help make the Georgia transportation more secure.
The Joshua law legitimately commence on January 1, 2007. The rule specifies that all 16 year old that is interested in obtaining a drivers permit have to complete a Joshua Law course through an accredited driver ed program. The course must consist of a total of 40 hours of supervised driving instruction, 6 hours of nighttime driving with a parent, and a sworn corroboration from the parents that these requirements have been met.
The law also states that 17 year olds who have not completed a driver education program through an accepted driving school should still complete 40 hours of supervised driving training. These driving training will still require a sworn corroboration from a parent or guardian.
In addition to make certain that teenage drivers are more skilled before getting a drivers license, the Joshua law also qualifies parents for discount on their insurance. Parents will receive a markdown on their insurance premium after submitting a documentation of achievement from a state licensed driving school.
Out state teens that are new to Georgia are not exempt. Any child beneath the age of 18 should adhere to the provisions of the Joshua Law in one way or another. If a teen was granted a permit from out of state, they must first contact the DDS prior to driving on Georgia transportation.
The Joshua Law is a ruling that was produced with the stress on increasing more skilled teen drivers and saving lives. A parents most important duty is to make certain that their kids are safe.
